How Can You Register for Marriage at KUA Online?

Registering for marriage at KUA can now be done online through SIMKAH, the electronic marriage administration system of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This service allows prospective couples to submit their marriage registration information without having to complete the entire initial process directly at the KUA office. The online registration is carried out through the official SIMKAH system and remains subject to verification by the KUA where the marriage will take place.

Online registration can make the process more practical, but couples still need to prepare the required documents carefully. Registration should generally be completed at least 10 working days before the planned marriage ceremony. Understanding each step can help couples avoid missing documents or delays.

WHAT IS SIMKAH?

SIMKAH stands for Sistem Informasi Manajemen Nikah and is an electronic system used for marriage administration. Through SIMKAH, prospective couples can register their intention to marry online and provide information required for the marriage registration process. The system is integrated with KUA services to support marriage administration and recording.

SIMKAH does not mean that couples can complete every marriage requirement without visiting the KUA. The submitted information and documents still need to be checked by KUA officers. Therefore, couples should consider online registration as part of the official registration process rather than a complete replacement for KUA verification.

WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD YOU PREPARE?

Before registering online, prospective couples should prepare their basic marriage documents. These generally include a marriage introduction letter from the village or urban village, copies of birth certificates, identity cards, family cards, and required photographs. A health certificate and other supporting documents may also be required depending on the couple's circumstances.

Additional documents may be necessary for certain situations. For example, a marriage recommendation from the original KUA is required when the marriage will take place outside the prospective couple's residential district. A divorce certificate is required for a divorced person, while a death certificate is required for a widowed person whose previous spouse has died. TNI or Polri members may also need permission from their institution.

HOW DO YOU CREATE A SIMKAH ACCOUNT?

The first step is to access the official SIMKAH website at simkah4.kemenag.go.id. Select the option to create a SIMKAH account and register using an active email address. The system will send an OTP or verification code to the registered email address. Enter the code to verify the account and complete the account creation process.

After the account has been verified, log in to your SIMKAH account. Make sure the personal information entered in the account is accurate and matches your official documents. Using an active email is important because it can be used for account verification and other registration information.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER FOR MARRIAGE THROUGH SIMKAH?

After logging in, select the Daftar Nikah menu on the SIMKAH dashboard. You will be asked to enter information about the marriage location, including the province, regency or city, and district. You also need to select the planned date and time of the marriage ceremony based on the available options in the system.

Next, enter the required information about the prospective husband and wife, their parents, and the marriage guardian. Upload the required documents and photographs according to the instructions shown in the system. Check all information carefully before submitting the registration because incorrect information may require correction during the KUA verification process.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ONLINE REGISTRATION?

After completing the online form and uploading the required documents, print the marriage registration confirmation or proof provided by the system. The proof and required supporting documents may then need to be submitted to the KUA where the marriage will take place. KUA officers will examine the documents and verify the information provided by the prospective couple.

The couple may also need to complete a marriage examination and attend marriage guidance before the ceremony. These stages are important because online registration does not automatically mean that the marriage has been approved. The marriage can proceed after the administrative and examination requirements have been fulfilled.

WHEN SHOULD YOU REGISTER ONLINE?

Marriage registration should generally be submitted no later than 10 working days before the planned marriage ceremony. This deadline gives KUA officers enough time to examine the documents and complete the required administrative process. Couples are therefore encouraged to register as early as possible rather than waiting until the last few days.

If the registration is submitted less than 10 working days before the ceremony, additional requirements may apply. Current guidance based on PMA Number 30 of 2024 states that a late registration may require a dispensation from the subdistrict head or a signed statement explaining the reason for the late registration, depending on the applicable procedure.

HOW MUCH DOES ONLINE MARRIAGE REGISTRATION COST?

The online registration process itself should be distinguished from the location and timing of the marriage ceremony. A marriage ceremony held at the KUA office during working days and working hours is generally free of charge. If the ceremony is held outside the KUA office, the applicable marriage service fee is generally Rp600,000.

Payment procedures should follow the official instructions provided through the registration system or KUA. Couples should avoid making unofficial payments to individuals. If the ceremony location or payment requirement is unclear, contacting the KUA where the marriage will take place can provide the most appropriate local information.

WHAT SHOULD YOU CHECK BEFORE SUBMITTING?

Before submitting the online registration, check that the names, identity numbers, dates of birth, addresses, and other personal information match the official documents. Make sure the required documents are clear and uploaded in the format requested by the system. You should also check the selected KUA, marriage date, and ceremony time carefully.

It is also important to confirm whether your situation requires additional documents. This may apply if you are marrying outside your residential district, have been previously married, are under certain age requirements, or belong to a profession requiring additional permission. Preparing these documents early can make the verification process smoother.

CONCLUSION

Registering for marriage at KUA online can be done through SIMKAH by creating an account, completing the marriage registration form, selecting the marriage location and schedule, entering the required personal information, and uploading the necessary documents. After submitting the application, the couple still needs to complete verification and other requirements at the KUA where the marriage will take place.

The registration should generally be completed at least 10 working days before the marriage ceremony. Preparing accurate documents and checking the information carefully can help prevent delays. Since some requirements can depend on the couple's circumstances and local procedures, contacting the relevant KUA is recommended if there is any uncertainty.
